Emergency deployment across water

When speed and efficiency are in order, whether you need flexible transportation for your machinery and vehicles or if you are in circumstances that demand emergency access across and around water, Versadocks' modular systems can help.

Our team organised and recorded a demonstration of how reliable and flexible our floating platform systems are.  In this scenario, we transported an emergency services' quad vehicle on a small raft to a location with difficult access.

The video highlights how Versadock can be utilised to deploy machinery, supplies and people effectively to overcome environmental conditions that could otherwise be considered challenging.

View the video below:

For more information about our flexible modular floating rafts, docks, pontoons and jetties, please contact Sales Director, Chris Wilson.  If you would like to see Versadock in action, we have a demonstration installation at our Head Offices in Lymington, Hampshire, where you are welcome to bring your own boat.

Versadock and DockBox at Southampton Boat Show

Versadock International enjoyed exhibiting at this years PSP Southampton Boat Show, and in particular the launch of our new product, the DockBox which gives secure and dry jetty side storage for boat owners.  Complimenting our existing range of modular floating pontoons and accessories, the DockBox enjoyed significant attention and our order book is strong (you can place your order now).

Our floating pontoons and floating access platform installations could be seen at the quay side on the Sealegs, Suzuki and we also had a yachting platform assembled and in use throughout the show.

The Sealegs exhibition stand showcased our ramp access pontoon selection, ideal for launching your boat or kayak on from a trailer.

Suzuki were operating free trips around Southampton water from their base which was built on top of a Versadock floating modular platform.  The flexible configuration options the Versadock offer gave Suzuki's customers safe and easy access to the RIB.

Versadock also installed a floating platform for use by yachtsmen for storage.  The platform offered additional space at this packed marina.

If you require a durable jetty, dock or pontoon with or without customised options such as cleats, solar lights, fenders, steps, kayak racks, drive on options, or even our new DockBox, then please contact Versadock for the best possible products at the best possible prices.

Versadock at UKRO 2012 - Water Rescue

Versadock enjoyed a great weekend in Lincoln, at Brayford Pool, as sponsors of the inaugural Water Rescue Challenge at UKRO 2012. This was an excellent chance to cement our relationship with the Emergency Services and display the various roles that Versadock has to play in Water Rescue. We also received great interest from members of the public.

Our temporary pontoon was very successful and attracted a great deal of interest due to its versatility and simplicity. As a base from which to lunch the water rescue, it was ideal.

We also took the opportunity to show how a simple set of steps can be made from Versadock modules and accessories, giving easy access from a high bank to the actual dock.

Versadock - "it just works!"

If you require a temporary pontoon with or without customised options such as cleats, solar lights, fenders, steps, kayak racks, drive on options, or if you are interested in our new DockBox, then please contact Versadock for the best possible products at the best possible prices.

New DockBox from Versadock

Versadock International are proud to introduce the new DockBox,  designed and manufactured by Versadock here in the UK specifically for boat users and marina owners.

DockBox is a versatile dock storage system that is weatherproof, robust and large enough to store your boat covers, fenders and other essential equipment. This saves many trips ashore where  these items would traditionally have been stored when not needed on board.

A flexible storage solution, DockBox can either be secured directly to the pontoon or, with the use of special brackets, can be attached to sit over the water in order to free more space on the pontoon.

In addition to user benefits, the DockBox ensures a tidier and safer marina and a good opportunity to provide rent to berth holders.

DockBox is available in different colour finishes and comes in white as standard.

Manufactured out of GRP, the internal measurements of DockBox are 185cm long, 64cm wide and 58cm deep.  All fittings are stainless steel marine grade to ensure longevity.

Find out more at www.dockbox.co.uk or contact Versadock for more information.

Versadock at the Olympics 2012

Versadock International Limited are proud to be providing drive on docking for Dorset Police at Weymouth for the duration of what will be a very special Olympic 2012 sailing regatta.

The configuration gives the Yamaha jetskis protection from the elements, very easy access and a fast launch time.  In addition, with the drive on dock design, the police jetskis will be easy to berth following patrols.

Our modular system was constructed nearby the installation location and delivered by water harnessing a Yamaha jet ski for power and control.

Once in position, the easy access drive on docks were secured and ready to play a vital role in the security of the Weymouth Olympic regatta.

As seen in our photographs, we installed enough drive on docking for 7 jetskis.  You can also see how easy the Versadock system is to transport and how accessible the jetskis are once berthed.

Thursday 31 May 2012

We had a great few days at the Seaworks exhibition and conference 2012, held at the Canary Islands fruit terminal at Southampton.  Early indications are that the exhibition attracted a large number of industry professionals and members of the general public.  Versadock had a lot of interest shown in our modular floating pontoon systems and some great enquiries, some of which are continuing to feed in via our website and in particular, our online dock builder which allows you to specify your requirements through a simple 5 stage process (view our website and try the dock builder)

We were able to showcase our innovative modular floating pontoon system on our stand and with our demonstration setup in association with C-Fury ribs.  The uniquely designed compact C-Fury rib was displayed on our modular pontoon system with our logo board positioned to the front of the stand reminding people that we do offer a hire service too.

If you are interested in viewing our modular floating system we will soon have an example set up at our head offices, located at Bethon Marina in Lymington, Hampshire.  Please call or email to arrange a suitable date and time for you to visit and see why our modular systems have proved to be popular worldwide.

We will also be exhibiting at the prestigious PSP Southampton Boat Show this year, on stand D057.  You can view our PSP Southampton Boat Show page on their website by clicking here.  The show runs from the 14th to the 23rd September - come along and see our modular floating pontoons and walkway systems!

Versadock survey, Loch Lomond

One of the great things about working in the floating dock business is that wherever you go, you are normally in fabulous waterside locations.

This the "view from my room" earlier this week during an extended business visit to Scotland. The snow came and went and the sun came out again. Loch Lomond looking great!

If you live in Scotland and would like the best floating pontoon, jetty or drive on dock for your boat, jetski or RIB, Versadock can help.  Contact us via our website for more details on our products and to arrange a quote or site visit.

Dubai Boat Show

A brief visit to the Dubai International Boat Show was a great success. Had a chance to visit some existing Versadock installations as well as (I hope!) being able to give some good assistance on the stand of our UAE &Gulf Distributors, Marsol International.

The show was busy enough and there were some good enquiries for floating walkways, floating pontoons, drive on docks and many other Versadock installations. Dubai seems to be making a solid recovery from some relatively difficult times.

Update on busy schedule!

Great 4 day trip to Devon & Cornwall - we carried out Versadock floating pontoon installations, site visits and had some great meetings. We delivered and installed 2 new Drive on Docks for our customers which are now in the water and being used. More seeds sown and Versadock projects specified plus a great new sailing teaching platform in the Helford River has been installed using our floating modular system.

Townhouse Hotel in Falmouth does best breakfast ever and is a very friendly welcoming place. Too much time spent in the mud and the car but weather great and a very positive outcome!

Important New business was achieved.  Nice to be back in my old stomping ground.

Next week, Dubai! Quite a contrast but equally important. it will be interesting to see how things have changed since my last visit in 2008. Sunday night, T5!

Meanwhile, Jamie had a very fruitful visit to the Dinghy Show and also installed a great floating platform for a local Sea scout group.

No rest!

Updates will follow

New - Easy launch Kayak Dock

Versadock is renowned for innovative ideas and we are delighted to bring you the new Kayak Dock, an idea developed by our friends in the USA.

To use, approach your kayak from either side of the Kayak Dock, simply get in and manouvre your kayak into open water - it really is as easy as that.  No more struggling! The Kayak Dock gives the kayak the stability required to prevent rolling or tipping, a clear benefit to users.

The Kayak dock from Versadock (see image below) gives an easy launch and recovery while you are still in the Kayak. Needless to say, this system is fantastic for small dinghies, runabouts and others. Versadock - it just works!

The Rhu Marina Storm - a commendation for Versadock!

Commendation for Versadock!
"A violent storm hit Rhu Marina on 3rdJan 2012 and resulted in the RNLI having to rescue five people from yachts in the Marina, the sinking of a number of vessels and much other damage to boats and to the Marina’s pontoons.  Sitting on its Versadock, my boat was probably the safest place to be in the Marina and I was most impressed that both the boat and the Versadock survived completely unscathed".

This comes from a Versadock Customer who keeps his boat on a Versadock drive on dock all year round at Rhu Marina and was fully expecting to find a very damaged floating dock and boat after the storm," The whole marina looked really trashed! The fuel berth and a number of other pontoons had completely disappeared!

The waves in the marina were at least 1 metre high and the floating dock must have been banging away for hours into the steel and concrete side of the pontoon. There’s barely a scratch to show for it but I will strategically place a couple of old car tyres, just to cushion it in the future. As I told you, this was the 3rd damaging storm of the Winter. The first (and most gentle) was violent enough to slide the boat back half-off the dock until my rather ‘loose’ bow rope stopped it going any further! This was a valuable lesson and the Versadock dock-cleat that Chris sent me and I fitted at Christmas must have saved the day on 3rd Jan"

This is what the Marina and RNLI had to say about the storm:
Quay Marinas statement:
On Tuesday 3rd January, Rhu Marina was hit by the exceptional storm which affected much of the Central Belt of Scotland and which was described by weather experts as the worst storm in Scotland this century.

The storm caused damage to a significant number of boats and part of the Marina's floating infrastructure has also been affected.

Marina staff did their best to minimise damage at the time but there came a point when conditions were so severe that working afloat became unsafe.

Owners of damaged boats have already been informed and Quay Marinas and the marina owners, The Crown Estate, have met at the marina to action a process of survey and planning for both emergency repairs and long term restoration of the pontoons, services and equipment. Customers will be kept informed as work progresses over the coming weeks.

RNLI statement:

At 0841 hours on Tuesday 3rd January, 2012 Clyde Coastguard requested the assistance of Helensburgh RNLI lifeboat crew as there were 5 persons on board 3 yachts in Rhu Marina, one of which had broken free from its mooring, that required assistance to get ashore. The persons had been on board their yachts overnight and with a heavy sea running through the marina and with storm force winds recorded, were unable to get ashore. As weather conditions were exceeding the lifeboat’s operational limits, the lifeboat crew had to go out onto the marina walkways to assist. The extreme weather conditions had caused several yachts to break their moorings in the marina and several vessels had sunk. The marina pontoons were moving vertically by some 1 metre making it virtually impossible to walk on them.

In very dangerous conditions 8 crew members proceeded out onto the pontoons to assist the 5 persons from 3 vessels ashore. At times the crew had to proceed on hands and knees due to the violent movement of the walkways.

By about 0935 hours, all persons were safely ashore, and as a precaution an ambulance crew checked out 2 of the rescued persons. The wind direction was westerly with gusts of 61 knots recorded in the marina (Force 11 – Violent Storm); Clyde Coastguard reported gusts of 77 knots at Greenock.

Colin Gardiner, Operations Manager, commended the crew for their actions in, what he described as the worse conditions he had ever seen in the Marina.
